Bedford Summer League Final Result
Wellingborough Phoenix 55 Luton Flyers 43
An intense defensive affair saw neither team establish any offensive rhythm, however the sharp shooting of Bones who hit three from the land of plenty to give the Phoenix a five point half-time lead 29-25.
The second half saw defensive prevail once again with both teams exerting a lot of energy on defense, leaving little to spare at the other end of the court. The turning point came six minutes into the second period when the Phoenix managed to hold the Flyers scoreless for over six minutes, after which the game was effectively over. The flyer ran out of gas and the Phoenix created fast break points to run out 55-43 point winners. The final was the highest standard of game that the league has witnessed and the Phoenix have reclaimed the title they took in 2007.
