Bedford Bulls One v Ware Jokers Tues 11/10/11 (HPL)

With the defending league champions in town the Bulls One always new it was going to be a tough game that was likely to go down to the wire, which was proved correct.

The Bulls One suffered from a slow start after nearly a two week layoff due to teams dropping out of the league. Before Bedford got going the Jokers had jumped out to a 16-4 lead behind some strong play by P. Jessop who had a qquick seven points. Luckily the Bulls One man to man defense kicked into gear which created offensive opportunities and they managed a 6-0 run of their own to go into first break only down 11-18.

The second quarter saw the Bulls One's offense start to flow as D. Silkauskas scored 11 points in the quarter but four other players got on the scoresheet to lead the Bulls One back into contention. The final period saw the Jokers take the lead in the third minute and not reliquishing it until the Bulls One pulled level at 60-60 in the ninth minute. The quickness of A. Macaulay for the Jokers saw him being fouled by B. Roberts and shoot two free throws with less than 20 seconds on the clock. However A. Macaulay only made one free throw to leave the Bulls One with the final possession. B. Roberts declined a time out with him prefering to let the players work out the final shot which they duely did. Unfortunately the  12 foot jump shot by T. Hollowell from a drive and pass by B. Roberts hit both sides of the rim and bounced out. The final seconds ticked away as the ball was defelcted out of bounds while the Jokers celebrated a ghard fought win 61-60.

Hertforshire Warriors 1 v Bedford Bulls One Thurs 10/11/11 (HPL)

As both teams started to settle defence was the name of the game with both teams playing strong man to man defence and the quarter finished 18-16 to the Warriors 1.

Teivans worked hard as usual on defence to lead the way as the Bulls One went in 34-33 down at half-time.

The third quarter proved to be the Bulls One undoing as they looked sluggish defensively and lost offensively. The Warriors 1 took advantage of this and their small court to pressure the guards and cause multiple turnovers as they extended their lead to double figures and put the game out of reach.

The Bulls One could not slow down the Warriors 1 offence that was in full effect as their captain scored three long range efforts as the Bedford briefly flirted with a zone defence. The Bulls One lost all defensive intensity and could displayed some poor decision making offensively as they did not recognise the mismatches. The game petered out into a bad tempered affair with one of the refree's making some very questionable calls and disrupting any flow the game had. One to forget for the Bulls One as the Warriors 1 where the better team.
