Huntingdon Hawks vs Bedford Bulls - Sat 26th Sep
Thanks to the Bedford summer league, the fresh, new, young roster of Bedford had time to gel as a team, and it definitely showed in the Bulls first game of the season against Huntingdon Hawks away.
Bedford Bulls came out strong and never looked back, not going behind at any point throughout the match.
The Lithuanian sensation aka Dons, teamed up with Leon Thompson as they dominated the first half between them, dropping 24 points. The rest of the team soon joined in the fun in the second half as the whole team contributed and eventually overcame the Hawks with the final score at 84-74 in favour of the Bulls. A great start to the season for Bedford and a reason to sink a beer or two!

Wellingborough Phoenix vs Bedford Bulls - Sun 4th Oct
Whenever Bedford meet their rivals Wellingborough, a nitty, gritty, physical battle always takes place, and that certainly was the case on Sunday.
It was very much a neck and neck match throughout, with the whole of the Bedford roster doing their bit. Despite the young bench, Bedford held their own, with great help from the rising youngsters M.Quinney and J.Govorusa both dropping 10 points each.
It really did come down to the wire with the score going into the final quarter at 68-64 to the Bulls. It looked as though they could hold out for the W, but as the clock ticked by, Wellingbourough grew stronger and stronger, finally taking a 3 point lead with 20 seconds to spare.
It was Bedford's last chance, and the ball fell to Leon "Afro" Thompson on the 3 point line, sadly resulting in a brick.
Phoenix were the better team on the day - 95 - 92.

Vytis vs Bedford Bulls - Sun 11th Oct
Bedford's trip to Vytis was definitely one to be forgotten in a hurry.
The first half was a very close fought game, although quite scrappy at times with ZILCH free throws going down for Bedford.
But the second half really was not the same story. Bedford's heads dropped lower and lower as the game went on, resulting in a best forgotten 98- 60 win in favour of Vytis. Let's leave it at that.
MVP: Leon Thompson Donut: Leon Thompson (missed 2 dunks!)
Scorers: L.Thompson - 15, J.Wilkins - 4, B.Roberts - 7, J.Govorusa - 2, M.Teivans - 9, D.Silkauskas - 16.
South Lincs Dragons vs Bedford Bulls - Tue 20th Oct
The trip to South Lincs emerged as a turning point for the Bedford Bulls. With a 1 and a half hour journey to the away court, knees were stiff, but Bedford exploded out into the first quarter hitting several shots from downtown. The 3 pointers didn't stop there either as they broke a club record, hitting 12 3 point shots in the match!
It was a brilliant all round team game, with big man Tom Hollowell making his debut, and hitting back to back baseline jumpers in the 3rd quarter.
Another man making his debut was Nick Clifton, who played great solid defense throughout.
The lead grew and grew, despite the away crowd trying to knock the Bulls off their game, chanting and whistling on every Bedford free throw.
It was the young gun M.Quinney though, that shot the lights out, not missing a single shot all night and a sweet ankle breaker followed by a jumper from Leon Thompson, that confirmed that it was the Bulls night, the dragon slayers.
Final score: 90 Bedford Bulls - 74 South Lins Dragons
MVP: Quinney Donut: Jovan (for travelling like a gypsi in the 4th quarter!)
Scorers: P.Ghamsary - 4, M.Quinney - 11, L.Thompson - 10, J.Wilkins - 4, B.Roberts - 10, J.Govorusa - 13, M.Teivans - 4, N.Clifton - 2, D.Silkauskas - 28, T.Hollowell - 4.
Nene Valley Venom vs Bedford Bulls - Sun 25th Oct
The Bulls travelled to Peterborough on Sunday, matched up against last season's champions, but they certainly caused a rumble.
The game was completely owned by Bedford's superstar Donatas Silkauskas, as he broke two club records for points at the end of the half and game, with 25 at half time and 44 at full time!
The rest of the team chipped in with a few points each aswell, leaving Nene Valley struggling for the whole match.
This match put Bedford on a 2 win streak and definitely sucked the venom out of valley.
Final score: 84 Bedford Bulls - 75 Nene Valley Venom.
MVP: Dons Donut: Quinney (threw a wobbly!)
Scorers: P.Ghamsary - 4, L.Thompson - 6, J.Wilkins - 2, B.Roberts - 15, M.Teivans - 4, D.Hayes - 5, D.Silkauskas - 44, N.Stolber - 4.
Bedford Bulls vs. Littleport Lions - Fri 30th Oct
A balanced scoring attack served to snuff out any resitance that Littleport could muster. Travelling with only seven players and reportedly missing a couple of starters it never looked good for the Lions. Both teams started slowly but as the game wore on Bulls started to move the ball unselfishly on offence and knuckle down to execute an effective full court man to man defensive statergy.
The defensive intensity of the Bulls seem to frustrate the Lions and cause them to rush their shots and make poor decisions which led to quick and decisive fastbreak scoring from the Bulls.
Proving that the Lions can be tamed.
MVP: Dons (unselfishness) Donut: Neil (fouling out in five minutes)
Scorers : D.Silkauskas - 24, S.Bukelis - 11, M.Teivans - 10, M.Quinney - 9, L.Thompson - 8, B.Roberts - 6, T.Hollowell - 6, N.Clifton - 5, J.Wilkins 3, N.Stolber - 2.
Final score: 84 Bedford Bulls - 57 Littleport Lions
Bedford Bulls vs St Neots Slammers - Fri 6th Nov
A difficult game for the Bulls saw them struggle to stop an under strength Slammers side from scoring at will in the first half. The full court pressure that Bulls where trying to apply did not work and played in to the Slammers hands allowing them to fast break constantly and run up 50 first half points Bulls only saving grace was that they managed to score 41 points themselves.
After a stern half time team talk and a change of tactics defensively (switching to a mixture of half court man to man and zone) the Bulls found their way back into the game. The improve ball movement and unselfish play combined with an improved shooting percentage and fatigue slowing down the Slammers led to the final outcome.
In the end the Bulls managed to limit St Neots to 29 second half points and execute their own fast break to run out winners by nine points.
MVP:Leon (Excellent offensive decsion making) Donut:Ben (Playing poor man to man defence)
Scorers: D.Silkauskas - 28, L.Thompson - 16, B.Roberts - 16, M.Quinney - 9, S.Bukelis - 7, N.Stolber - 3, M.Teivans - 3, J.Wilkins - 3, T.Hollowell - 2, D.Hayes - 2.
Final Score: 88 Bedford Bulls - 79 St Neots Slammers
Wellingborough Phoenix vs Bedford Bulls - Sun 15th Nov
A quick start against their local rivals saw Bulls edge ahead in a physical encounter, however the Flames regained the momentum at te end of the first quarter and continued their good form at the beggining of the second quarter. Silkauskas, Teivans and Bukelis kept the score ticking over and Bulls entered the break with a five point lead.
The second half went the way of the Bulls with some excellent team man to man defence being played which stifled the Flames offense and served to frustrate them. The increased depth of the bench and composure of the Bulls coupled with some excellent offensive execution led to the Bulls running out winners by 17 points. Silkauskas was the main protagonist scoring 39 points able assisted by Tievans, Thompson and Bukelis who all scored in double figures.
An excellent allroud team performance helped to erase the previous defeat they inflicted on the Bulls in the Dave Owen Trophy.

Bedford Bulls vs Vytis - Fri 5th Feb
An excellent uptempo start to the game coupled with some stifling man to man defence helped Bulls to limit Vytis to six first quarter and managed to score 24 with a spread of scoring with all of the starting five getting on the score sheet.
The next quarter started evenly with both teams having scored six points after four minutes of play, however the trend changed dramatically with Vytis ghetting the measure of the Bulls defence. Vytis scored freely against some of the young Bulls players by taking advantage of some poor execution and communication defensively, managing to close the gap to two points at the half way point.
The third quarter was not much better as Vytis managed to score repeatedly from the outside with one player scoring four times from the three point line after several defensive break downs. Only twelve points from D.Silkauskas manged to keep the Bulls in touch.
The final period saw the Bulls find some of the form they displayed in the first quarter and focus on playing solid man to man defence and taking advantage of the limited depth of the vytis squad. An injury earlier in the game to one of Vytis's key players and a more concerted effort by the Bulls saw them run out winners by eight points.
The home record rumbles on.
MVP: A.Tamulvicius (Scoring five key fourth quarter points) Donut:Sigitas (Leaving the court when he was not substituted).

Final Score: 81 Bedford Bulls - 73 Vytis
Bedford Bulls vs Wellingborough Flames - Fri 12th Feb
A free flowing game saw Flames jump out to an early 10-3 lead which extended to 20-11 with only two minutes left in the quarter. Bulls tried to rally and finished the quarter eight quick points but it was their man to man defence that was non existent as a Flames player scored the final two of the quarter to extend their lead to 25-21.
Bulls where slow off the mark in the second quarter and repaeted defensive break downs, a lack of communication and some poor offensive decsion making saw Flames extend their lead to eleven points mid way through the quarter. Only the scring of Silkauskas and Thompson who finished the half with 16 and 10 respectively kept them in the game. Flames held a 50-39 advantage at half time.
At the beggining of the third quarter Bulls switched to a 3-2 zone and and used their trademark press to cause the flames offence to stutter. The difference was exemplified when the Bulls went on an 14-2 tear in the first four minutes to take a one point lead. Silkauskas and Thompson again did the damage during this period with the Flames going in at the end of the quarter ahead by one.
The final period saw a pair of clutch three point shots by Silkauskas and one from Roberts keep the Bulls ahead by one with only two minutes left in the game. Flames finally fell apart when a charging foul was called against one of their players in the final minute with them down by two points and a technical foul was awarded for arguing with the referee (N.Weisse who had an outstanding game on her own). Silkauskas step up to the line and sunk both foul shots to effectively seal the game for Bulls.
A tough home win which extends Bulls unbeaten home record.

To be replayed due to scoresheet inaccuracies.
Bedford Bulls vs Littleport Lions - Fri 26th Feb
An effective opening seven minutes saw the Bulls jump out to a 16-10 lead behind 11 points by Silkauskas and seemingly have the Lions worked out. However with just over two minutes left in the quarter the Bulls stopped concentrating defensively and the Lions to score 13 quick points to take a four point lead into the second quarter.
Unfortunately the Bulls continued not to execute at either end of the floor and fell behind by eight points early on. The game went to and fro with some stong offensive work by Bukelis, Hollowell and Silkauskas, but still no concerted defensive effort was made and ultimately the Lions increased their lead to 11 points at half time.
The third quarter saw the Bulls try to change their tactics defensively by adopting a 3-2 zone however some miss communication and costly turnovers saw the game all but slip out of the Bulls reach. The lions scored the first 12 points of the quarter and consitently caught Bedford on the break with easy lay ups that seem to deflate the Bulls team.
The Final quarter see some of the Lions players having to sit down due to foul trouble and the Bulls regain some of their first quarter form. Although the Bulls outscored the Lions by Seven points in the quarter the result was never in doubt and the Lions ran out winners by 20 points. The Bulls did not help themselves by missing 17 free throws and only hitting four times from the land of plenty.
A tough game which see's the Bulls unbeaten home record finally fall.
